A STUDY OF SEISMIC PROPERTY OF MEGA-SUSPENDED BRACED FRAME-WITH DAMPER

  • A new mega-suspended braced-frame structure with dampers is presented. Based on simplified guidelines, the lattice major structure of the structure is simplified as a beam-column model, SAP2000 is used to check its rationality. Then, the beam-column model is simplified as a multi-mass-system shear model by pushover method, and the effectiveness is proved. Based on the above process, a time-history method is used to analyze the five structures under three art-earthquake waves. Results show that the stiffness gap between main structure and substructure increase the relative displacement. For a mega-suspended braced-frame with dampers, the displacement of the main structure and relative displacement between the substructure and main structure can be reduced effectively by the viscous dampers. The system has some characteristics including lower input energy, less plastic deformation and more damping dissipation. The new system avoids the damage failure concentrated on the substructure under rare earthquakes. The substructure protects the main structure. Compared with other general suspension structures, it is a better aseismic structure.
